collection feature: the nautical history behind the rope co.

The Rope Co. are a quintessential example of ‘form meets function’. Using hardworking materials with neutral tones and timeless weaves, their designs ensure each product is long-lasting in both style and use.

Nautical rope has been trusted by hard-working hands for generations, battling the rugged conditions of the salty Atlantic. Rope Co. owners Logan and Hannah Rackliff grew up on the East Coast, cloaked in maritime traditions from an early age, so working with nautical rope was an easy choice when they decided to start their weave their own entrepreneurial path.

Logan’s great-great-grandfather was a sea captain and had worked his entire life on the waters. Four generations followed in his footsteps, spanning 5 whole generations of savvy lobstermen. Logan’s grandfather and father both started and ran companies that specialized in tools for seafaring trades, so it was only natural that Logan felt inspired to create a rope company of his own, but one that reflected his own generation’s way of coastal living.

In 2013, in a small fishing village in coastal Maine, Logan and his wife Hannah launched The Rope Co. , a line of nautical doormats, placemats and storage bins, woven from the same rope that has been used by generations of lobstermen across the Eastern Seaboard.

Each design is inspired by the beauty of the natural world, using neutral tones and durable, water-resistant material to weather all kinds of weather. Rope Co.’ s products are created with intention, guided by quality production and inspired by the landscapes that influence our stories and shape our lives.
